Motivational Mary is an organization passionate about great leadership at home and in the community. Since 2014, Mary has hosted two outreach titled “Love Thy Neighbor” & “Give A Kid A Holiday Cheer.” Many years later they have become annual outreaches to help the community.
Love Thy Neighbor Outreach
is an annual event held in February by Motivational Mary. This outreach started in 2015 to “GIVE BACK” to domestic violence victims, survivors and singles who are 18 years and older. The sole purpose is to showcase the true meaning of LOVE because there’s far too many people suffering from mental illness, depression, low self esteem, abuse and loneliness . Motivational Mary with a host of others focus on self development, domestic violence prevention, relationships and loving thy neighbor/thyself. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Give A Kid A Holiday Cheer Outreach
This outreach initiative aims to assist parents and guardians in providing essential items and gifts for their children during the holiday season. Many families struggle to meet basic needs, often only having enough resources for food and shelter, especially at Christmas. Since its inception, Motivational Mary has positively impacted the lives of over 40 kids in Richmond, VA.
Motivational Mary began with limited resources but a big heart, using what she had to spread joy to children at Christmas. In 2015, she developed an innovative approach to increase support by organizing raffles, allowing her to extend her reach to more children. What sets this outreach apart from others is our commitment to addressing the needs of our local community without burdening families with extensive requirements. Unlike many programs that ask for W-2 forms to provide assistance, Motivational Mary believes in blessing those in need without requesting their financial documents. Each child receives a shopping blessing, which is determined by the generosity of our donors and the resources God provides.
As Luke 6:38 (MSG) beautifully states, “Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”
